Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the heartthrob of the nation when he led India to a sensational victory in the recent ODI series in Australia, but when it comes to Chennai, one of the biggest show stoppers of the city is ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY. Vijay today marked a new chapter in his career by endorsing the star studded and high profile 'Chennai Super Kings' IPL team that has many bigwig players like the Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Australian smash hitter 'Matthew Hayden', Sri Lankan spinner Muttaiah Muralitharan, Stephen Fleming, Micheal Hussey, Jacob Oram, Suresh Raina, Makhaya Ntini, among other players. The Chennai team will be coached by South African player Kepler Wessels and also has former Indian spinner VB Chandrashekar as the team's advisor.
Vijay was given a royal introduction at the glittering launch today by the organisers of the event. He was seen sitting on a throne through which he was introduced to the audience assembled for the event. Vijay said that he is very happy to be associated with the Chennai IPL team and that he has been watching cricket right from his childhood days, and that his son is also a very avid cricket watcher. Vijay also said that he will be attending the IPL matches being played in Chennai. The other star attraction of the event was Tamil Nadu's swashbuckling opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth who is also the brand ambassador of the Chennai Super Kings IPL team.
